SEISAN KATA

 

Start from a ready position. Rei. -Snap- to a ready position

1a. As you come up from the Rei, form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi ).

b. Cross the forearms in front of the chest (the arms are forming an "X", left hand on the outside).

c. Step out with your right foot to form a Ready Stance (Heiko-Dachi).

d. Snap the arms downward to a ready position.

2a. Move right foot to left foot to form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi) (feet form a "V").

b. Smack the palm of the left hand with the back of the right fist (the hands are held at about 6" from the chest).

c. Bring the feet together to form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi). Bend the knees slightly.

d. Keeping the hands together, move them down to belt level (left hand is still to the outside).

3a. Pivoting on the heels, form a "V" with the feet (keep heels together).

b. Bring the arms up -slowly- to form an "X" with the wrists at chest level.

c. Pivoting on the balls of the feet, move the heels outward to form a "pigeon-toed" stance.

d. Crossing the arms in front of your chest (about six inches from chest), move the arms down -slowly- until they are straight out to belt level. Center of palms (Pericardium 8) facing center of thighs (Gallbladder 31)

4a. Step forward into a left seisan stance.

b. Execute a left Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

c. Execute a right, reverse punch.

5a. Step forward into a right seisan stance.

b. Execute a right Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

c. Execute a left, reverse punch.

6a. Step forward into a left seisan stance.

b. Execute a left Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

c. Execute a right, reverse punch.

7a. Together in one motion the right hand circles from inside to outside (from left to right and bending only at the elbow) ending with open hand palm up as the left hand comes straight across in front of the body to point (but not touch) at right elbow . The left hand is in an open position with the palm facing down.

8a. Together both hands arc across the body to the same positions on the left side of the body. The left hand open palm up and the right hand is in an open position with the palm facing down.

b. Keeping the arms in the same position, the left hand turns over to face away from the body, then both hands close to form fists.

c. Keeping the hands in the same position, the right leg kicks across in front of the left leg at thigh level using the inside of the right foot then returns to its former position. Your body is facing NORTH and your kick is directed to the NORTHWEST.

d. Turning the head 135 to the right, the left hand comes to the right hip as the right hand goes straight out and down to the SOUTHEAST and runs parallel with the right leg. (The left palm is turned to face the body and the right hand is turned in the same position as the left hand.)

9a. Circle both arms up so they are in front of you at shoulder level with both palms facing down.

b. Return both hands to chamber in an open-hand position with the palms facing up.

c. Execute an open-hand "X" block at face level and extended away from the body. Right hand is on top.

d. Bring the "X" block to your chest (with the palms facing your chest) as you pivot on the left foot 180 to the left to form a left seisan stance.

e. Both arms extend straight out to their respective sides with the center of the palm (Pericardium 8) facing the center of the thigh (Gallbladder 31).

10a. Step forward into a right seisan stance.

b. Cross the hands in front of the solar plexus with the right hand toward the opponent. Execute a right reverse ridge hand to the temple as the left hand moves down and is tucked under your butt with the palm facing out.

c. Keeping the right arm in the same position, turn the right palm over and pull down -slowly- at a 45 angle until the elbow touches your side.

11a. Step forward into a left seisan stance.

b. Cross the hands in front of the solar plexus with the left hand toward the opponent. Execute a left reverse ridge hand to the temple as the right hand moves down and is tucked under your butt with the palm facing out.

c. Keeping the left arm in the same position, turn the left palm over and pull down -slowly- at a 45 angle until the elbow touches your side.

12a. Step forward into a right seisan stance.

15a. Execute a left-hand catch.

b. Keeping the hands in the same position, pivot 90 to the right to form a right seisan stance.

c. Keeping the hands in the same position, pivot on the left foot 90 to the right to form a right seisan stance.

16a. Execute a right Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke) (do not cross arms for this technique).

b. Execute a left, middle, reverse punch.

c. Execute a right, middle, punch.

d. Execute a left, middle, Front snap kick (Mi-Gere) and return it to its former position.

e. Execute a left, middle, reverse punch.

17a. Execute a right-hand catch.

18a. Pivoting on the right foot, turn 90 to the left to form a left seisan stance.

b. Execute a left Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke) (do not cross arms for this technique).

c. Execute a right, middle, reverse punch.

d. Execute a left, middle punch.

19a. Execute a right, middle, Front snap kick (Mi-Gere) and return it to its former position.

b. Execute a right, middle, reverse punch.

20a. Shift the left foot over to form a right cat stance facing SOUTH.

b. Rake the left arm across the right arm and execute a left Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

21a. Make an adjustment step to the right with the left foot then pivot on the left foot 180 to the right to form a left, cat stance facing NORTH.

b. Execute a left-hand catch.

22a. Make a slight step forward with the right foot then, pivoting on the ball of the right foot, turn the right foot to face WEST as you bring the left foot to the right foot to form a "V" facing WEST.

b. Execute a right, high Backfist (Uraken) above head level to the NORTH with your head turned in the direction that you are striking.

c. Make a long step back to the SOUTH with the left foot then drag the right back to form a left cat stance facing NORTH.

d. Keeping the right hand clinched in a fist, turn the palm of your fist away from your body as you pull the elbow into your side.

23a. Keeping the right leg in the same position, stomp the floor with the right heel.

b. Keeping the right foot in the same position, move the left foot across and in front of the right foot to form an "X" stance. The right foot is facing NORTH and the left foot is facing WEST.

c. Execute a right, middle Front snap kick (Mi-Gere) to the NORTH.

24a. Land in a right seisan stance facing NORTH.

b. Execute a right Low Block Harai-Uke .

c. Execute a left, middle, reverse punch.

25a. Shift the right foot over to form a left, cat stance facing NORTH.

b. Rake the right arm across the left arm and Execute a right Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

26a. Make an adjustment step to the left with the right foot then pivot on the right foot 180 to the left to form a right cat stance.

b. Execute a right-hand catch.

27a. Make a slight step forward with the left foot then, pivoting on the ball of the left foot, turn left foot to face WEST as you bring the right foot to the left foot to form a "V" facing WEST.

b. Execute a left, high Backfist (Uraken) above head level to the SOUTH with your head turned in the direction that you are striking.

28a. Keeping the left leg in the same position, stomp the floor with the left heel.

b. Keeping the left foot in the same position, move the right foot across and in front of the left foot to form an "X" stance. The left foot is facing SOUTH as the right foot faces WEST.

c. Execute a left, middle Front snap kick (Mi-Gere).

29a. Land in a left seisan stance facing SOUTH.

b. Execute a left Low Block (Harai-Uke).

c. Execute a right, middle, reverse punch.

 

30a. Shift the left foot over to form a right cat stance SOUTH.

b. Rake the left arm across the right arm and Execute a left Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

31a. Make an adjustment step to the right with the left foot then pivot on the left foot 180 to the right to form a left cat stance facing NORTH.

b. Execute a left-hand catch.

32a. Step forward into a fixed stance. Your body should facing WEST.

b. Execute a right, high Backfist (Uraken) to the NORTH.

c. Pivoting on the left foot, turn 90 to the right to form a right seisan stance facing NORTH.

d. Execute a right Low Block (Harai-Uke).

e. Execute a left, middle, reverse punch.

33a. Shift the right foot over to form a left, cat stance.

b. Rake the right arm across the left arm and Execute a right Inside Block (Soto-Yoko-Uke).

34a. Step back with the right foot into a left seisan stance facing NORTH.

b. Execute a left Knife hand strike (Shuto) at neck level.

c. Keeping the left Shuto in the same position, execute a right, middle Front snap kick (Mi-Gere) and return it to its former position.

d. Execute a right, middle, reverse punch. *

35a. Step back with the right foot dragging the left foot with it into a right, cat stance facing NORTH (both shoulders should be facing NORTH for this technique).

b. Both arm are extended palm down at shoulder level

c. Bring hands back to chamber with the hands open and the palms facing up.

d. Move the right hand to belt level in front of your body with palm facing up as the left hand moves in front of your solar-plexus with the palm facing down.

e. In a circular motion, move the right hand to the right to assume the position of the left hand as the left hand moves to the left to assume the position of the right hand. As this technique is executed, stomp the floor with the left heel. *

36a. Move left foot to right foot to form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi) (feet form a "V").
