ELBOW KATA

 

Start from a ready position. Rei.

1a. As you come up from the Rei, form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi).

b. Cross the forearms in front of the chest (the arms are forming an "X", left hand on the outside).

c. Step to the right with your right foot to form a Ready Stance (Heiko-Dachi).

d. Snap the arms downward to a ready position (right hand crosses on outside).

2a. Move right foot to left foot to form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi).

b. Execute a right-hand catch.

3a. Step forward into a right Front Stance (Zenkutsu Dachi).

b. Execute a right Roundhouse Elbow Strike (Mawashi-Hijiate).

4a. Execute a right Upward Elbow Strike (Age-Hijiate).

b. Execute a right Downward Elbow Strike (Otoshi-Hijiate).

5a. Turn head 90° to the right.

b. Execute a right Side Elbow Strike (Yoko-Hijiate).

6a. Turn head 90° left.

b. Move right foot to left foot then move right foot to EAST to form a Horse Stance (Kiba- Dachi.)

c. Execute a right Outside Block (Uchi-Yoko-Uke). (Keep the left fist in chamber for this technique).

d. Pivot body 45° to the left.

e. Drop to your right knee to execute a right Downward Elbow Strike (Otoshi-Hijiate). *

7a. Move left foot to right foot as you turn 45° to the right to form an Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi) facing NORTH.

b. Execute a left-hand catch.

8a. Step forward into a left Front Stance (Zenkutsu Dachi).

b. Execute a left Roundhouse Elbow Strike (Mawashi-Hijiate).

9a. Execute a left Upward Elbow Strike (Age-Hijiate).

b. Execute a left Downward Elbow Strike (Otoshi-Hijiate).

10a. Turn head 90° to the left.

b. Execute a left Side Elbow Strike (Yoko-Hijiate).

11a. Turn head 90° to the right.

b. Move left foot to right foot then move left foot to the WEST to form a Horse Stance (Kiba-Dachi).

c. Execute a left Outside Block (Uchi-Yoko-Uke). (Keep the left fist in chamber for this technique).

d. Pivot body 45° to the right.

e. Drop to your left knee to execute a left Downward Elbow Strike (Otoshi-Hijiate). *

12a. Move right foot to left foot to form a Attention Stance (Heisoku-Dachi) facing NORTH.

b. Cross the forearms in front of the chest (the arms are forming an "X", left hand on the outside).

c. Step to the right with your right foot to form a Ready Stance (Heiko-Dachi).

d. Snap the arms downward to a ready position (right hand crosses on outside).

Rei. Return to a ready position.
